It was built in 1934 as a service building to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lombardiabeniculturali.it\/architetture\/schede\/3m080-00030\/\">Piscina Romano<\/a>, a public swimming pool (1928-37) and is a property of the Municipality of Milan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/musascarl.it\/en\/home-2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"875\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eerg.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/MUSA-ColorPO_HD-875x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-157\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eerg.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/MUSA-ColorPO_HD-875x1024.png 875w, https:\/\/www.eerg.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/MUSA-ColorPO_HD-256x300.png 256w, https:\/\/www.eerg.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/MUSA-ColorPO_HD-768x899.png 768w, https:\/\/www.eerg.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/MUSA-ColorPO_HD-1312x1536.png 1312w, https:\/\/www.eerg.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/MUSA-ColorPO_HD-1749x2048.png 1749w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 875px) 100vw, 875px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The building was extensively renovated by Politecnico di Milano and DAStU. eERG has overseen the passive technologies and the KNX controls, as actions carried out within the <a href=\"https:\/\/musascarl.it\/en\/home-2\/\">MUSA project<\/a>. Only the roof was insulated from the outside, while most of the walls were insulated from the inside, using recycled textile materials, as waste from the largest Italy&#8217;s textile processing area in Tuscany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eerg.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_8182-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-212\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eerg.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_8182-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.eerg.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_8182-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.eerg.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_8182-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.eerg.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_8182-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.eerg.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_8182-2048x1152.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Small actuators were installed to operate windows and entrance doors in order to activate night ventilation during the hot or intermediate seasons, so to naturally cool the mass of the building during the night when it absorbed heat during the day, thus stabilizing the internal temperature. Natural ventilation is supported by small air extractors placed in the highest part of the building&#8217;s volume when natural forcing is not sufficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eerg.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_8171-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-213\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eerg.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_8171-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.eerg.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_8171-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.eerg.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_8171-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.eerg.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_8171-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.eerg.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/IMG_8171-2048x1152.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Solar radiation is going to be controlled by screening the two large upper windows with two plant courtains (load-bearing structure and deciduous climbing plants), in order to shade the sun during the summer, while letting radiation in when in winter.
