About us

eERG, one of the scientific laboratories of the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies (DAStU) of Politecnico di Milano, provides technical support in the field of energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality of buildings (Indoor Environmental Quality, IEQ), with a strong link to scientific research on these topics, in particular in the context of Europe funded projects.

The eERG laboratory is dedicated to monitoring the energy performance of buildings, monitoring and evaluation of short and long-term thermo-hygrometric comfort indicators, Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE), through standardized comfort interviews according to ASHRAE 55, winter and summer energy flexibility tests, measurements aimed at calibrating dynamic simulation models of buildings, air quality measurements.

  • Lorenzo Pagliano

Full Professor in Building Physics at DAStU, Politecnico di Milano, PhD in Energy Engineering, Visiting at LBNL in energy economics and regulation. In 1997 Prof. Pagliano created a research group at Politecnico di Milano, whose aim was to lead competences about low energy buildings, comfort models, analysis of energy efficiency technologies and programmes, efficiency and sufficiency policies. Since then, he still leads the eERG, end-use Efficiency Research Group.

Has participated in, promoted and directed more than 50 research projects and studies funded by public (e.g. Regional Governments, National Ministries, European Union) and private bodies (e.g. Electric Companies) on various aspects of buildings analysis and simulation, buildings monitoring, comfort surveys and energy economics and planning, with a special focus on end use efficiency and sufficiency.
